Various options are available depending on the time you have to spend. An overlook tower is located in the Altamaha Wildlife Management Area in the Altamaha River Delta located just south of Darien off US Highway 17 N. View the Colonial Coast Birding Trail.

Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge has several ponds where our coastal birds can be seen. It is situated in the north end of McIntosh Co just off US Highway 17 .; the gate is located off Harris Neck Road and is open for daylight hours seven days a week.

HOW DO I GET TO SAPELO ISLAND?

Contact the Sapelo Island Visitors Center 912-437-3224 to make a reservation for a tour and ferry ride. Winter, Spring and Fall offers two tours weekly; Summer Season offers three tours weekly. The tours are four-hours round-trip and you should pack a cooler with water and snacks. Also during the summer months a full-day tour is offered on the last Tuesday of each month.

WHERE IS WOLF ISLAND?


Located in the barrier island waterways of McIntosh County, Wolf Island is fully restricted and protected by the US Dept of the Interior, Department of Fish and Wildlife Service.
